EA’s CFO States Need To Engage Players For Longer, Calls Star Wars Battlefront 2 A “Great Learning Experience”

EA DICE and their game Star Wars Battlefront have been at the center of a lot of controversy regarding the company’s implementation of loot boxes and microtransactions in the game. During the 37th Nasdaq Investors Conference, EA’s Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen stated that the launch of Star Wars Battlefront II has been a learning experience on the whole. He also went on to talk about microtransactions and it still remains uncertain what role they will play in the game in the future.

According to Jorgensen, the goal is always to give players what they want. What players appear to want now then is to play fewer games but to invest more time in the games. This is certainly an interesting trend in gaming and EA will be focusing on keeping a game alive for longer so as to keep up with this trend.

With the recent discovery of a hidden menu, we have to wonder whether EA has learnt anything at all and if they’ll end up repeating their mistakes all over again. At this rate, they’re not going to be able to hold players’ interests for as long as they’d like to.
