In its latest weekly update, Bungie has announced that with the beginning of Destiny 2’s fourth season – which is close to or at the launch of Forsaken – Trials of the Nine will be going on hiatus. Its reputation tokens will be irredeemable and whether the currency will be used in the future is still up in the air. The last weekend for Trials of the Nine in Season 3 will take place on August 24th.
The announcement is interesting given the reception to Trials of the Nine when Destiny 2 launched. Many fans of Destiny’s Trials of Osiris found the mode wanting, especially given the current state of Crucible. It also didn’t help that armour and weapons from Trials of the Nine didn’t really feel all that exceptional. Hopefully, with the upcoming sandbox changes and other changes, the mode will see some fresh life breathed into it.
On top of all this, the final Iron Banner of Season 3 starts on August 14th and will focus on Control. The mode will implement many changes with the format including zones being locked down for 20 seconds if all are captured.
What are your thoughts on changes to Trials though? Let us know below. Destiny 2: Forsaken is scheduled to release on September 4th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
